In this article, we will provide you with details of all the services of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). The Benazir Income Support Program, also known as the Poverty Alleviation Program, aims to improve the quality of life for the poor and deserving people of the country.
Through this program, relief funds are distributed among poor people every quarter. Only women belonging to poor and deserving families are included in this program.
The program was founded by former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mrs. Benazir Bhutto, and is named in her honor. Since 2008, this program has continuously served the poor and deserving people.
Every succeeding government has tried to expand its scope. Various schemes have been run under BISP to provide the best services to the people.
Benazir Kafalat Program
The first and largest part of BISP is the Benazir Kafalat Program. Currently, more than 9 million women in Pakistan are benefiting from this initiative. Under this program, financial aid is distributed to poor and deserving women, including transgender women. Just like poor and deserving women, transgender individuals also receive aid every quarter.
The Benazir Kafalat Program has recently increased the amount of assistance. The quarterly amount has been raised from 8,500 to 10,500 rupees. To benefit from the Benazir Kafalat Program, individuals must first register themselves. Only after registration can they receive the program’s benefits.

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program
The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program is another major part of BISP. Under this initiative, scholarships are distributed among students from poor and deserving families to help them meet their educational expenses.
Due to a lack of funding, millions of youngsters in Pakistan were unable to receive an education. In Pakistani society, little attention was paid to the education of girls. The purpose of this program is to give special attention to girls’ education.
As a result, the scholarship amount for girls is higher than for boys in this program. Since the introduction of the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program, thousands of poor children can now access quality education.

Benazir Nashonuma Program
In Pakistan, the infant mortality rate was continuously increasing, primarily due to malnutrition. To address this, the Benazir Income Support Program launched the Benazir Nashonuma Program to combat malnutrition among women and infants.
This initiative has significantly reduced the mortality rate of women and infants during maternity. The program provides quarterly stipends to pregnant women and infants. Pregnant women receive financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 every three months during pregnancy.
After the birth of a girl, a quarterly stipend of Rs. 3,000 is provided, while for a boy, the stipend is Rs. 2,500. In Pakistan, women are given priority in every sphere of life to ensure equal rights in society.
Benazir Bachat Scheme
An important part of the Benazir Income Support Program is the Benazir Bachat Scheme. Through this scheme, women from poor and deserving families open bank accounts and deposit 500 or 1000 rupees each month.
The deposited amount must not be withdrawn for a fixed period of about 2 years, during which they are provided with a monthly profit. Only women who are part of the Benazir Kafalat Program are eligible for this scheme. The aim is to encourage savings to help women prepare for adverse situations in the future.
